SHMC Posts Record Results in MayNASHVILLE, TN In an economic climate where many businesses and industries are struggling, Southern Hills Medical Center posted record admissions in Inpatient Admissions and Emergency Department visits in May. May is typically a slower month for hospitals because of the long holiday weekend and the beginning of the summer vacation season, said Thomas Ozburn, chief executive officer Southern Hills Medical Center. The number of Emergency Department visits represents a record for Southern Hills, and was reached while maintaining the shortest wait times ever an average of 4.65 minutes. Southern Hills has developed strong partnerships with area providers and emergency personnel to help provide this extraordinary level of patient care. To see a record number of patients while keeping the patients wait times to a minimum demonstrates the unique commitment to care and service that our staff holds, said Greta Woodall, RN, director of Emergency Services at Southern Hills. Our staff is remarkably committed to providing excellent care, said Ozburn. For our team, simply meeting a standard is never enough. For example, door to balloon times are a measurement used to represent a hospitals responsiveness to heart attack patients. The national standard that hospitals work towards is to have door to balloon times of 90 minutes. At Southern Hills Medical Center, the door to balloon times are consistently better than the national standard. |
